Defining Beliefs as Spiritual Practice

Spiritual practice is where I see my actual clients struggle month after month on their spiritual journey? But how can that be when everyone is googling healing, and there is more information about modern spirituality than ever? I think the answer is simple: spiritual practice is somewhat self-defined, and in 2022 everyone is left to their ways of thinking to make sense to them. Problematic, much? You will have to decide that for yourself. But, I believe it to be a combination of all the actions you take toward connection with Spirit, your higher consciousness, and the practices that keep you rooted in your beliefs.

You have to be clear on your spiritual beliefs for the practice to be meaningful and to receive the benefits of practice. When your practice is not anchored in faith, it is literally a relaxation or de-stressing activity. Practice not rooted in belief has become the way of modern spirituality. The first rule of spiritual practice is creating an intention for your chosen practice based on your belief. So your intention cannot be a sound one if it is not connected to a belief. Spiritual practice is deeply personal. What you believe may not be what someone else thinks, but for it to be a spiritual practice, it must be with an intention to connect to your spiritual aspect of the spiritual part of our world. Everyone has to decide for themselves how to move with connection and intentionality. The benefits you receive are derived based on the energy you put forth in your personal beliefs. So very plainly, what I do may not work for you at all, and vice versa.

When you have a strong belief system and are working on expanding it, consistency in your practice is easy. You do it because you want to and it feels aligned with your presence on Earth. It is a natural part of your day because you can utilize it for connection and clarity, and it serves as a reminder of how you want to move in the world.

The practice is not the hard part. However, the practice is more effortless when you have removed the conflict in your beliefs. The difficulty in the work correlates to your ego states being preferable. Spiritual obligations are only a burden for those in a state of resistance and generally some degree of fear.

The humble are aware that spiritual practice is the roadmap to the spiritual destination, and without it, a sense of connection to the Source will be lost, resulting in the absence of a purpose and a clear direction. Therefore, one good way of inviting the energy of humility into your circumstances is by first seeking to understand your energetic patterns of belief, and this is simple enough by accessing your Akashic Records.

When it comes to spirituality, finally reaching for the practice and modality that aligns directly with you and you practice that daily as a part of your journey, you will no longer need “this is hard” as a part of your narrative. Instead, you will accept the difficulties and be powered by your desire for continued breakthroughs in your life. You will look forward to clearing the obstacles keeping you from a deeper connection with yourself and Spirit.

Think about that for a minute, the obstacles. What has kept you from pursuing a deeper connection with spirit or maintaining your spiritual journey? What is your opposition?

  • Is it social media?

  • A person in your life who creates negative thoughts and feelings about you or others?

  • A loss of an opportunity because of the ending of a relationship.

  • Or the inability to stay in the present moment?

  • Are you limiting beliefs?

  • Spiritual connection through practice was not your priority.

When you define and face your obstacles to connection to practice, you will instantly find ease. But, on the contrary, so many people are forcing practice in ways that you will never be able to embrace consistently. So let’s dive deeper into that, shall we?

Often when it comes to beliefs and defining them, I notice my clients running back for methods of practice that they long since abandoned. Why do we look to embrace the spiritual and religious traditions that we ditched in our growth environment and count that as defining our beliefs? What would even make one consider that without taking the time to truly delve into not only why you felt that was not right for you before and pick it up without being thoughtful about why it is right for you now, then what chance does it have to serve a purpose for you now?

When I ask my clients to define their beliefs, I am asking them to clear space for the spiritual foundation that will provide alignment. Embracing practice with clarity, you will find peace in your connection with Spirit and a deeper relationship to the practice, which will increase consistency. Picking up a spiritual practice that you think others will approve of only solidifies your ego, and it probably creates a lot of assumptions about what you think others believe spiritually.

Consider what you have been revisiting in spiritual practice; is it serving you now? Or is that the only form of spiritual practice you have explored?

Intuitive Guidance for practice?

Intuitive guidance can be a form of spiritual practice. But, it is a matter of intention and action. When you do not feel particularly connected to Spirit or grounded in the universe, and in-depth guidance session can help you experience connection and clear energetic blocks to a personal relationship with Spirit. A spiritual guide is genuinely an intercessor. However, there are many times in intuitive guidance sessions when spiritual guidance is not what you seek. More times than not, I find clients not seeking a spiritual remedy but validation; I am noticing an increase in this. In seeking validation only in an intuitive session, you forget to listen deeply. You fail to accept and create space for understanding why a specific thing is essential for you spiritually. Everyone is experiencing lessons in their daily lives based on the current spiritual theme. So if you are experiencing a lot of loss currently, your lesson might be acceptance, evolution, or closure. But, you won’t be able to connect and navigate the lessons with relative ease if you don’t allow the guidance to help you. Many of you are not enabling spiritual guidance to navigate your circumstances because you are so consumed with having ultimate control. What could be more potent than the assistance from the guides that offer support in your Akashic Records or your spirit guides? You have to make a conscious decision to allow spirit to guide you in each session and remove your ego.

Your ego is apparent when you are

  • Bartering with the guidance

  • Deflecting

  • Trivialize the guidance offered

Honestly, some of the issues most people are currently dealing with have relatively simple solutions. Think about that for a moment. The problem you are facing is probably not as complicated as you have made it out to be. It’s only the emotional aspect that is making it heavy, unsolvable. I am reminding you of this because many people are often assumptive that a guidance solution must be complicated. It has to be some form of karmic debt, or you seek an answer that sounds particularly new age. However, from my personal experiences with Spirit and through learning the way of shamans, I understand your solution could be as simple as offering someone else a peanut, literally, but the critical aspect in resolving the problem is believing the said peanut can solve it and the intention or words you say as you offer it. Everything, every situation has a solution. That is one of the lessons of our throat chakra. There is a solution for everything, and the Akashic Records teach us that everything will be resolved before we ascend. So if those two things are true, it could only mean that you are the creator of many of the blockages in your situation. It may be a solution that you are unwilling to accept because it is not ideal. But, the solution can still be simple. When bartering, deflecting, and making light of the guidance, you only hurt yourself and create another energetic blockage. It makes that much harder for the light to flow through you and create expansion and relief to the issues.

The best way to utilize the guidance as a spiritual practice is to create an intention for your session. As a reminder, the intention is your statement about how you will direct your energy. Also, remember that nothing is too complicated for Spirit. The solution can be simple, but there is more than likely more than one issue you can solve in a single message from Spirit. So you have to open yourself up to that possibility.

Create space for messages that you may not have considered. Just because you have a list of questions does not mean that any of that is super relevant for you right now. Your ego will create urgency for everything you think you need to know. But, try to remember that Spirit led you to intuitive guidance for a reason, and every time you create roadblocks, it stunts your spiritual growth and does not show respect for Spirit or the practice.

More than anything, you need to remember that you are receiving a message. Of course, the message is coming through someone else, but it should be respected as if you are hearing it firsthand.

My last tip on using guidance as a spiritual practice is to remember to create connections through your questions. Questions are good, but it is unnecessary to have a list of questions in each session. It cuts off the connection instantly for some of you, and for others, it does not leave space for messages that the Spirit has for you on that specific day. You want to create a balance. You are responsible for showing up in the energy that guides your session. You have to keep centered on the purpose of the connection between you and Spirit and the spiritual remedies that will lead you forward. Many people seek questions and answers that indeed are a matter of choice. If that is your desired pathway, you would be best served by leading with a question to explore the advantages or disadvantages of your choice. And speaking of choice, Spirit doesn’t want you to do anything in particular; that’s why we have free will. Look to the three guiding principles should you be led to a question that resembles “what do they want me to do?” The answer will always be fear not, judge not, resist not.

Be thoughtful in approaching your questions or asking for help forming your question.

More than anything, do not ask a question that you are unwilling to receive the answer for. If you know 100% that you are seeking validation and will not accept anything less, then it is a waste of energy for all parties to ask this question.

Whatever your relationship to spirit and however you have attempted to humanize the relationship, that is not the relationship that will provide you with spiritual benefit and does not serve as practice.

The power of learning is through listening. The ease of spiritual and tangible connection will come to you if you listen over time. If you prioritize listening in guidance, you will feel the vibrations of each word being spoken in the message. But, when you prioritize your emotions, your ego wins.

It’s all a matter of choice and commitment to your spiritual practice.
